During 16 - 18 December 2024, Lieutenant Sorawud Preededilok, Minister attached to Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), led a delegation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials from TICA, Department of East Asian Affairs, Department of Information and Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs to have discussions with Vietnamese government agencies, private and academic sectors regarding development cooperation and to follow up on the progress of development projects in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen Province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
On 16 December 2024, the delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador of Thailand to Vietnam. The discussion focused on potential cooperation activities between Thailand and Vietnam to commemorate two significant milestones in 2025 namely the 50th Anniversary of Thai–Vietnamese diplomatic relations and the 150th Anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This was followed by a meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam to reiterate Thailand and Vietnam relations on trade and investment and explore opportunities to stregnthen development cooperation between the two countries.
On 17 December 2024, the delegation visited Dong Tien and Dong Bong villages in Thai Nguyen Province, the implemented areas of the Project on Sustainable Community Development based on the Application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy by TICA, to follow up on the project implementation. The delegation also discussed and received feedback on challenging issues and areas where the villagers may need additional support.
On 18 December 2024, the delegation held discussions with high level representatives from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Hanoi University. A wide range of topics discussed included the possibilities of potential cooperations with the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs and the International Studies Center (ICS) and other universities in Thailand, as well as Vietnam’s partner prioritisation, including ways to facilitate and assist Thai business operating in Vietnam.
