Thai nationals in South Sudan celebrated Thai National Day 2022 in Juba

On 11 December 2022, H.E. Miss Sasirit Tangulrat, Ambassador, and Mr. Wisit Bunyaritthipong, Counsellor, attended the celebration of the 5th December, which is Thailand's National Day, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great's Birthday Anniversary, and Thai Father’s Day, in Juba, the Republic of South Sudan. The event was organized by the Thai Community in South Sudan at the premises of ARC Construction, the employer of many Thai workers, for the first time since the independence of South Sudan in 2011 and the establishment of Thailand-South Sudan diplomatic relation in 2013.
 
There are more than 500 Thai nationals residing in South Sudan. The 2 main groups are the ARC Construction's workers who have built roads and other infrastructures in South Sudan for more than 10 years, and the military personnel under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Others are workers in the petroleum companies, United Nations staffs, and spa therapists.
 
On this occasion, the Ambassador has stressed the significance of December the 5th, praised and appreciated the initiatives of the Thai community to launch this important celebration which has helped boost the closer tie among the Thai community and the encouragement for those living abroad for a long time, and also reiterated the Embassy's readiness to continue looking after the Thai community and supporting their activities overseas in the years to come.
