On 3 December 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Budapest hosted a reception to commemorate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, and the Thai Father’s Day. The event was held at the Anantara New York Palace Hotel in Budapest, with H.E. Mr. László Kövér, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, as the guest of honor. Approximately, 250 attendees joined, including representatives from the diplomatic corps in Budapest, senior representatives from Hungarian public and private sectors, Friends of Thailand, local media, and representatives from Thai private sectors and the Thai community in Hungary.
During the ceremony, the Ambassador Phrommes Bhaholpolbhayuhasena delivered a speech, highlighting the significance of December 5 to Thailand, the historic visit of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) to Hungary in 1897, the strong ties between Thailand and Hungary, and projects and collaborations between the two countries. H.E. Mr. László Kövér emphasized in his remarks the close relationship between Thailand and Hungary and the prospects for future cooperation.
The event showcased a variety of activities, including a performance of royal compositions, traditional Thai dance, and video presentations promoting Thai tourism. Attendees enjoyed authentic Thai cuisine, featuring dishes such as Tom Yum Kung, Pad Thai, and Taro and Corn Pudding with Coconut Cream, prepared by the Thai Residence, the Hotel and Thai President Foods (Hungary) Kft. Additionally, Thai souvenirs were distributed to participants, further promoting Thai products and culture to a broader audience.
