On 16 March 2025, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, in collaboration with Wat Thai Buddhagaya, organized a heartwarming CSR event titled “We Do Good Deeds by Heart” and “Dhammanava-Royal Palace,” inspired by the Royal Initiative of His Majesty the King of Thailand. The event aimed to uplift the lives of children at Tathagat School in Barandi, Bihar, while bringing to life the timeless Buddhist values of peace, wisdom, and compassion. Founded in 2007 and led by Principal Subodh Kumar, Tathagat School serves approximately 200 – 300 children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The school relies on a small, dedicated team of teachers and serves children aged 5 to 14. During the event, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand, along with Niphon Bhante from Wat Thai Buddhagaya, and Tenzin Bhante, shared uplifting messages of hope with the students, reinforcing the spirit of Buddhist diplomacy and strengthening the ties between Thailand and India.

As part of the initiative, the Royal Thai Consulate-General donated essential medical supplies, including a first-aid cabinet, to ensure the health and safety of the students and the surrounding community. Additionally, 200 educational materials, such as books, desks, floor carpets, 50 chairs, a blackboard, and traditional musical instruments, were handed over to enhance the learning environment at the school. Principal Subodh Kumar expressed deep gratitude for the generous support, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on both the school and its students. This CSR event stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between Thailand and India, offering not only material support but also a message of care, kindness, and shared values. Through this initiative, the Royal Thai Consulate-General has made a lasting impact, empowering the children with the tools and inspiration needed to pursue their dreams and create a brighter future.
