During 25 August - 1 September 2024, the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA) organised the 2024 Knowledge of Diplomacy (KOD) course for foreign and Thai diplomats. On 25 August 2024, Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and Mrs. Thitiporn Chirasawadi, DVIFA Director, greeted and hosted a dinner discussion for the participants during the opening session. At the same occasion, a brief on Thailand’s Foreign Policy was also organised.

 

The 2024 KOD course has an objective to be a platform to share Thailand’s knowledge and best practices, as well as policy implementation in the fields related to diplomacy, while also seek to strengthen networks among Thai and foreign diplomats. This year, the course focuses on economic diplomacy, such as foreign economic policy, Thailand’s economic development and Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and human rights.

 

In addition, the KOD participants also had field visits to Laem Chabang Sea Port and Thailand Digital Valley in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), as well as Kubota Farm, an agri-innovation promotion center of Siam Kubota. They also shared and exchanged views on their respective countries’ economic foreign policy.
