On 17 January 2024, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a Roundtable on Trade, Climate and Finance on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2024, alongside Foreign Ministers, Trade Ministers and Finance Ministers from all regions around the world as well as leaders of relevant international organisations. H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs was also present.

At this Roundtable, the Deputy Prime Minister joined other policy makers in discussing ways to accelerate climate action, particularly on priorities to be identified at the nexus of climate, trade and finance. While calling for an ambitious climate protection strategy, the Deputy Prime Minister also shared Thailand’s policy priorities, namely (1) mobilising finance from all sources to realise climate targets, including from Green Climate Fund, though Green Bond Market, (2) placing climate agenda at the center of cooperation in prominent international fora, given an example of APEC’s Bangkok Goals on Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy and (3) eliminating trade restrictions and supporting the multilateral system with the WTO at its core.
