On 23-25 February 2025, Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, as Thailand's APEC Senior Official, attended the 1st APEC Business Advisory Council Meeting (ABAC 1/2025) in Brisbane, Australia. Representatives from ABAC Thailand joining the said meeting are Mr. Kobsak Duangdee, Secretary-General of the Thai Bankers' Association, Mr. Kasemsit Pathomsak , Vice Chairman of Thai Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Vathit Chokwatana, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries.
During the event, Thailand exchanged views with ABAC members on sustainability issues, emphasizing its commitment to advancing the Bangkok Goals on the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy, which is a key deliverable from Thailand’s 2022 APEC host year. The APEC BCG Award was also highlighted to raise broader awareness among the ABAC community in order to encourage ABAC to take part in driving the green transition in the Asia-Pacific region. Thailand also shared its policies on promoting renewable energy to support the growth of data centers within its economy and exchanged views on preparation of the workforce for digital transition.
Concurrently, ABAC Thailand has prioritized the enhancement of digital trade connectivity by initiating the establishment of the Digital Trade Connect Network and the Digital Trade Connect Facilitation Group. These initiatives aim to seamlessly advance electronic transactions and paperless trade across APEC member economies.
This year's ABAC meetings are held under the main theme "Bridge, Business, Beyond," which focuses on connecting ideas, people, and economies, driving innovation growth, and creating a prosperous future for everyone. This theme aligns with the Republic of Korea's APEC 2025 host year theme "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow" and its three key priorities: "Connect. Innovate. Prosper."
