H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, is scheduled to attend the 22nd ASEAN - EU Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) on 21 January 2019 in Brussels, Belgium. The meeting will be attended by Foreign Ministers of 10 ASEAN Member States and 28 European Union Member States as well as the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President (HR/VP) of the European Commission.

The meeting will review the implementation of the ASEAN-EU Plan of Action (2018 - 2022), which covers a wide range of cooperation areas including traditional and non-traditional security, trade and investment, connectivity, sustainable development as well as support for ASEAN integration. Both sides will also prioritise the areas of cooperation in 2019 based on issues of mutual interest such as climate change, transnational crime, cybersecurity, border management and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. The meeting will also adopt an outcome document - the Joint Statement of the 22nd ASEAN - EU Ministerial Meeting - to reaffirm their shared values of regionalism and multilateralism as well as their commitment to promote security and prosperity of the two regions.

ASEAN - EU Dialogue Relations was established in 1977. The partnership has grown from Dialogue Relations to an “Enhanced Partnership” in 2007. To further enhance ASEAN - EU relations, both sides are working towards elevating relations to a Strategic Partnership. The biennial AEMM, therefore, serves as an important platform for ASEAN and the European Union to drive their objectives forward.
