On June 19 2018, the Royal Thai Consulate-General organized an orientation for volunteers of Thai American Friendship Project (TAFP). The project is made possible through cooperation among the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Tourism Authority of Thailand Los Angeles Office, and Rangsit University. This year marks its second year to send second generation of Thai-American volunteers as an English teacher to 5 provinces of Thailand for a period of 2 months.

           During their time in Thailand, our volunteers will have opportunities to stay in close touch with Thai people and Thai traditions and also to rediscover their Thai heritages. Furthermore, visiting historical sites of each province is another good chance to learn more about what Thai ways and development of the country. For the local Thai students, learning English from native speakers is indeed beneficial for their linguistic progress and they can exchange opinions and experiences with the volunteers on how to live abroad and also listen to stories about Thai people in United States. Benefits that both sides will gain from this Thai American Friendship Project is building strong connections and relationship between Thai people both in Thailand and United States.

          On this day (June 20, 2018) our 5 volunteers are travelling to Thailand to start their mission for 3 months (from June 21 to September 8, 2018) and will be teaching at the following institutes:

          1. Rangsit University, Pathumthani;

          2. Satit Piboonbumpen Demonstration School Burapha University, Chonburi;

          3. The Prince Royal’s College Wiang Pa Pao, Chiang Rai;

          4. Chiangmai University; and

          5. Krabi Provincial Administrative Organization School.
