            During 10 – 13 June 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai and the Thailand Foundation led a group of executives  from the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Association, and Thailand’s Gross Domestic Happiness 559 Co. Ltd. (GDH 559), represented by Mr. Chayanop Boonprakob, film director, and Mr. Thanapob Leeratankachorn, leading actor from the Thai movies hit “May Who?”, as well as media to attend “The 6th Thai Film Week” festival, which was held from 11 -19 June 2016, in parallel to the Shanghai International Film Festival 2016 (SIFF 2016).
This year’s event includes many interesting activities as follows : 
“Red carpet walk” :  Mr. Thanapob , leading star of May Who?, was invited to 
be on the red carpet with the other celebrities from around the globe at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai International Film Festival 2016. 
The 6th Thai Film Week Festival’s opening ceremony, which was held at 
Premiere International Cinema, Global Harbour Mall, was presided over by Mrs. Parichat Luepaiboolphan, the Thai Consul- General in Shanghai.  The captivated 200-strong audience, mostly young Chinese, then enjoyed the film screening of May Who?.  
“Meet and Greet” with more than 130 fans of Mr. Thanapop at the Thai 
Consulate-General in Shanghai., where Mr. Thanapop personally handed out film’s posters and DVDs with his autograph to the delighted fans.
Altogether 8 Thai films were screened  at this year’s Thai Film Week festival: 1) May Who? 2) Heart Attack 3) Senior 4) Take me Home 5) Karma 6) Boxing in Love 7) the Inspirations and 8) Snap.  A business matching session was also organized during the event.
            The above activity is part of the cultural diplomacy projects under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed to promote Thailand’s good relations with other countries especially at the people-to-people level, through Thai films and television series.  The Ministry also aims to contribute to raising the status of young Thai artists with potential, including in film and television industry, to the international level.
