The Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico organized the annual Songkran Festival at the Thai Residence on 17 April 2016. About 100 guests attended the event including the Thai Community, Diplomatic Corps and Friends of Thailand.
H.E. Surasak Chuasukonthip, Ambassador of Thailand, delivered welcoming remarks and extended his best wishes to everyone on the occasion of the Thai New Year. The Songkran festival is the occasion to showcase various facets of Thai culture and traditions. Therefore, under the supervision of Mrs. Ruchira Chuasukonthip, Ambasasdor’s wife, the Thai Community, diplomat and student performed four traditional Thai dances including Fon Uay Porn (Blessing dance), Fon Paen (a Northern dance), Ram Sinuan (a Central dance) and Sao Chiang Rai (a Northern dance). Guests were also able to enjoy the exquisite Thai cuisine and the fun water splashing experience of Songkran.
