On 3 April 2016, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a statement at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), UNESCAP, Bangkok. He emphasized the important role of the APFSD to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific Region and the whole-of-society approach to development, in particular the role of the business sector and investment to promote sustainable development. He further highlighted the need to shift to sustainability mindset. Overall, he stressed that each community and nation must boost strength from within and further enhanced cooperation among countries within the region. Moreover, he shared Thailand’s experiences and best practices on sustainable development model based on His Majesty the King's Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP).

Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) is the forum to discuss on sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific Region. This session of the APFSD aims to define a regional roadmap and identify priorities and needs of the region for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The meeting constitutes five main sessions, namely (1) Regional priorities for  the implementation of the 2030 Agenda (2) Statistics and mainstreaming of the SDGs to address vulnerability (3) Regional Road Map for Implementing the 2030 Agenda and the Form and Function of the APFSD, including the Follow-up and Review Process (4) Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development and (5) Making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable: regional priorities and opportunities. The meeting was attended by 300-400 participants, including high level representatives such as Deputy Prime Minister of Tonga as well as other Ministers and Deputy Ministers from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Mongolia, Timor-Leste, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
