On 6 March 2016, the Royal Thai Embassy together with the other four Embassies of ASEAN countries in Mexico – Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Viet Nam, organized the 2016 ASEAN Family Day at the Thai Residence. The ASEAN Family Day is an annual event to foster strong ties among ASEAN diplomats and families. 

 

            About 100 members of the ASEAN family joined in fun activities such as the Indonesian “PocoPoco” dance, traditional games “ski on the Land” and sack race, badminton and karaoke. A variety of national dishes from the five countries were also present, to the delight of all participants. 

 

            The ASEAN Family Day is an occasion for ASEAN diplomats and families to get to know each other and to learn more about each country’s culture and traditions, reinforcing a sense of togetherness and the ASEAN identity.
