On 20 January 2016, H.E. Mr. Kriangsak Kittichaisaree paid a Courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Igor Vladimirovich Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, to present a copy of the Letter of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation.

The Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his warm welcome to the Thai Ambassador and discussed various issues to further strengthen and enhance the bilateral cooperation in all dimensions. They also discussed the upcoming joint-visits to Moscow of H.E. General Prawit Wongsuwon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and H.E. Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of economic affairs.

The Thai Ambassador reiterated that the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Thailand have enjoyed the special relations dating back over a century and wishes to work closely with the Russian side on the celebration in 2017 of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
