This Treaty enters into force on the date which the Instruments of Ratification are exchanged in accordance with its article 14. For Thailand, the Act on Co-operation between States in the Execution of Penal Sentences B.E.2527 (1984) is the enabling legislation of this Treaty.
The Treaty provides conditions for offenders, who have already served the minimum period of imprisonment in the contracting parties to be transferred back to their own country to serve out the remaining time of the sentence. The Treaty, therefore, can help further strengthen co-operation in law enforcement and the administration of justice between Thailand and Maldives.
