During 12 -15 January 2015, H.E. Mr. Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil, together with the Embassy secretaries visited Sao Paulo to meet with related agencies to discuss ways and means to promote business joint ventures and importation of Thai products into Brazil. They also exchanged views on promotion of bilateral relations in various areas such as trade, investment, Thai food festival, tourism and consular matters.
During the visit, the Thai Ambassador discussed with Mr. Rui Eduardo Saldanha Vargas, Vice President of Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) who is in charge of poultry products, Mr. Ricardo João Santin, the Vice President of ABPA who is in charge of pork products and Mr. Fernando Sampaia, the executive director of Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC) to promote business cooperation in trading and livestock. The Thai Ambassador mentioned the recent acquisition of a Thai chicken Factory by the Brazilian chicken company. This can be an example of cooperation between Thailand and Brazil. He also wished that the Thai food processing company can invest in Brazil, taking advantage of Thai advanced technology and Brazilian raw materials.
On the exportation of Brazilian beef to Thailand, there is a common desire to encourage the Ministry of Agricultural and Livestock of Brazil (MAPA) to respond to the sanitary questionnaire forms of Thailand in order that the Brazilian beef can be exported to Thailand. Furthermore, the Thai Ambassador also extended his invitation to the Brazilian companies under the ABPA and the ABIEC, to visit Thailand in May 2016 to promote Thailand - Brazil bilateral trade and investment, with focus on Agricultural and commodity products and Halal industry.
