         On 11 – 12 November 2015, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to attend the 1st Mekong – Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Jinghong, Yunnan, China. The Foreign Minister will co-chair the meeting with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, along with Foreign Ministers from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Viet Nam.
         The Meeting is the first meeting at the Foreign Minister level under the framework of MLC, which comprised of Thailand, China, and CLMV countries. The framework was initiated by Thailand and China and endorsed by the Leaders at the 17th ASEAN-China Summit in 2014.
         The Ministers will endorse the MLC Concept Paper, discuss and consider the early harvest projects, as well as adopt a Joint Press Communique which will announce the official launch of this new framework. Recognizing the high potentials for development, the MLC comprehensively covers 3 areas of cooperation, namely: 1. Political and Security Issues, 2. Economic and Sustainable Development, 3. Social, Cultural, and People – to – People Exchanges.
         At the senior official level, Mr. Noppadon Theppitak, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand will meet with Mr. Liu Zhenmin, Vice Foreign Minister of China, to discuss and exchange views in preparation for the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
