During 15 – 19 September 2015, Mr. PitchayaphantCharnbhumidol, Ambassador of Thailand to Brazil together withAssociate Professor Dr. BanchaKwanyuen, Acting President of Kasetsart University with Professors from Kasetsart University and high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Thailand visited the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and the Federal University of Santa Maria, the state of Rio Grande do Sul to strengthen the educational cooperation between Thailand and Brazil as well as delivering the books for the Thai Corner at theFederal University of Santa Maria.

 

            During the visit, Mr. Ambassador and the delegation exchanged views with Professor Dr.Rui Vicente Oppermann, the Vice President of UFRGS to enhance the educational cooperation between Kasetsart University of Thailand and UFRGS. Both Universities expressed their interest in signing the Memorandum of Understanding in educational cooperation in various fields, not only for exchange students but also professors, researchers and research materials in the areas of mutual interest.    

 

            On 18 September 2015, the Thai delegation visited the University of Santa Maria to deliver books about Thailand for the Thai Corner in the University library, which was initiated by the Royal Thai Embassy in Brasilia with the support from Kasetsart University. Professor Dr. Paulo AfonsoBurmann, the President of the University and executive team extended a warm welcome to Thai delegation. Both sides held together the handling-book ceremony. 

The “Thai Corner” Project by the Royal Thai Embassy has been continually implemented in Brazil. At present, there are three Thai Corners in three Universities, which are (1) National University of Brasilia (2) Catholic University of Brasilia and (3) University of Santa Maria in Rio Grande do Sul.
