On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Cambodia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, in collaboration with the Thailand Foundation organized a Thai film and Thai TV series promotional project in Cambodia during 6 - 7 October 2015. The project, namely, “Freelance (Heart Attack) Stars Tour in Phnom Penh,” brought representatives from GMM
Tai Hub Co., Ltd. (GTH), Mr. Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, director, Mr. Sunny Suwanmethanont, leading actor and Ms. Violette Wautier, supporting actress, as well as a representative from the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Association and media to attend the launch of the above-mentioned movie in Cambodia.
The two-day-event started off on 6 October 2015 with the meet-and-greet activity at Legend Cinema, City Mall, followed by the Gala Premiere at Major Cineplex, Aeon Mall and ended with another fun meet-and-greet at Platinum Cineplex, Sorya Mall on 7 October 2015. The Stars Tour was successful. Over 200 people, in particular Cambodian teenagers who are fans of Thai movies and stars, participated in each activity. Furthermore, it also received much attention from local media, e.g., “Jaikon Show,” a popular local TV programme, which had special interviews with the director and the stars.
“Freelance (Heart Attack) Stars Tour” built on the overwhelming success of the “I Fine Thank You Love You” movie premiere event organized in Phnom Penh early this year. The said movie is ranked no. 2 in this year’s Cambodian Box Office which shows that Thai movie industry has a lot of potential to expand its market in Cambodia. Moreover, Thai movies and television series could be a means to bring our people-to-people ties even closer as well as foster relations between Thailand and Cambodia. They are also used for promoting Thailand and representing Thai culture, society and way of life which will create better understanding and favorable attitude towards Thailand in the long run.
