On 16 April 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy in Santiago organized the Thai traditional New Year (Songkran Day) at the Thai Ambassador’s Residence.  About 120 participants both Thais and Chileans attended the event.

          The event started with video presentations about Songkran and Thailand’s tourism. After that, the participants were invited to pay homage and join the bathing rite of the Buddha image. At the ceremony, they also performed a well-wishing ceremony to the revered elders by pouring water on their hands. Later, the participants enjoyed Thai food and Thai traditional dance (Ramwong Songkran) together. 

          In this occasion, Thai Ambassador also took the opportunity to donate used computational equipments and televisions to the People Help People Corporation, a charity organization in Chile, for its charitable course. Participants are impressed with the tradition of Songkran and the Thai New Year’s Celebration.
