On 8 December 2014, Mr. Sayed Rasool Mohajer, Director-General for East Asia and Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, together with Mr. Hossein Kamalian, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of his visit to Thailand to attend the first meeting of the Thailand – Iran Political Consultations (at the Director-General level).
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the long-standing friendship and relations between Thailand and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The two sides also agreed to increase exchanges of visits between the two countries, as well as to take advantage of potentials and opportunities presented in each country in various areas. The Thai side expressed readiness to export more rice, agricultural produce and products to Iran. At the same time, the Iranian side encouraged the Thai side to make use of Iran’s expertise in science, technology and sports as well as to expand cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism.
In addition, the Iranian side expressed intention to extend cordial invitations to the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand as well as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to pay official visits to Iran in 2015.
