During 21 - 28 September 2014 At the invitation of the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo, the officers from the Department of Fine Arts of Thailand visited Sri Lanka to reoganise the museum of Sri Paramananda Raja Maha Viharaya in Galle.
Sri Paramananda Raja Maha Viharaya has the special linkage with Thailand. King Mongkut of Thailand corresponded regularly a couple of Lankan monks, including Venerable Sri Sumantissa Nayaka Thero, the then Chief Monk of Sri Paramananda Temple. Later, during the reign of King Chulalongkorn of Thailand, Venerable Bulathgama Maha Nayaka Thero, the following Chief Incumbent, visited the King in Bangkok several times. Therefore, en route to Europe, King Chulalongkorn visited Sri Paramananda Temple on 19 April 1897 and laid the foundation stone of Chulalongkorn Memorial Hall at the temple. At present, the building is used as congregation hall and Dhamma Sunday school.
The team from the Thai Fine Arts Department categorized and registered the artifacts in the Temple, including the letter from King Mongkut and the ancient Tripitaka from King Chulalongkorn. The officers also rearranged the exhibition room in the hall and deisgned the renovation plan of the room as well as the interior and the exterior of the Chulalongkorn Memorial Hall.
