Between 1-4 October 2014  Mr.Songsak Saichuea, Director General of Department of American and South Pacific Affairs led a delegation, consisting of high representatives from private entities ; Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Federations of Thai industries, Bangkok Bank, PTT Public Company Limited, Interfocus Thailand Company Limited company and Pacific Fish Processing Company Limited, to visit Bogota , Republic of Colombia as part of the Latin Link Project.The first Bilateral Consultations meeting between Thailand and Colombia was held on the 3 of October 2014 at the Ministry of External Relations of Colombia and also was participated by Mr. Ruengdej Mahasaranond, Ambassador of Thailand to Colombia with residence in Lima , the representative of Thailand Agency for International Cooperation and representatives of relevant agencies of Colombia led by Ms Patti Londoño Jaramillo, Vice Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Colombia. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of bilateral relations including exchange of high level visit, promotion of trade and investment, cultural exchanges, bilateral agreement as well as cooperation in regional and multilateral contexts such as ASEAN, Pacific Alliance, APEC , FEALAC and the support for Thai candidature to the United Nations framework.

 

            Before the meeting, the Director General of Department of American and South Pacific Affairs participated in the launch of the Book “ Colombia in the international system : Its projection in Asia” together with the Vice Minister and the high level executives of the Ministry of External Relations of Colombia, where Director General Saichuea gave a briefing on Thailand foreign policies to the participants. 

 

            With regard to the programme of the Thai business delegation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand by the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs in cooperation with Royal Thai Embassy in Lima as well as the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Industries and Tourism of Colombia organized a seminar on Trade and Investment Opportunities in Thailand and a business matching between Thai and Colombian companies at the Bogota Chamber of Commerce. The Thai delegation also attended the economic and trade overview briefing organized by the Minsitry of Foreign Trade, Industries and Toursim and Proexport of Colombia. They also visited ANDI ( Colombian Association of National  Entrepreneur - ANDI) and held bilateral meetings with their Colombian potential business counterparts. 

 

            During the visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand by the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs in collaboration with Royal Thai Embassy in Lima handed over books and cultural materials for setting up the Thai corner to the Javeriana University and discussed academic cooperation between Thai and Colombian universities. The delegation also visited the office of the Thai Honorary Consul in Bogota.
