On September 5, 2014, Mr. Gospodarev Alexey, Director, Foreign Economic Relations Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation paid courtesy call upon H.E. Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation. Mrs. Kalayanee Sirikul, Minister (commercial affairs) and Mr. Boonyarit Vichienpuntu, counselor (economic affairs) also attended.

The Thai Ambassador and Mr. Alexey realized that it is currently an appropriate timing for Thailand and Russia to further enhance, with an even more concrete result, their trade cooperation, including the increase on the importation of Thai agricultural products.

Mr. Alexey stated that the Russian side is expediting the process to conclude the agreement for the importation of Thai rubber. Accordingly the Thai Ambassador has mentioned that Thailand as one of the largest producers and exporters of rubbers would serve as a potential trading partner to positively respond to the need of the Russian industrial sectors of automobile and auto parts.

Additionally, both sides would push for the holding of the 2nd sub-Joint Committees on Agriculture and Trade in 2014 and the 6th Thai  Russian Joint Commission in Thailand early 2015.
