Ambassador of Thailand to Australia paid an Official Visit to the State of Victoria

            On 11-14 August 2014, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Ambassador of Thailand to Australia, paid an Official Visit to the State of Victoria, upon the invitation of the Government of Victoria.  Mr. Maris was accompanied by Mr. Thanabordee Joothong, First Secretary. During the visit, Mr. Maris paid courtesy calls upon significant dignitaries including the Honourable Peter Ryan, Deputy Premier of Victoria, His Excellency Alex Chernov, Governor of Victoria and the Honourable Robert Doyle, to promote a greater relation between Thailand and State of Victoria at all levels. Both sides agree that a closer tie will lead to sustained bilateral relations between Thailand and Australia. Mr. Maris also met with the representatives from the private and education sector of Victoria including Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI), Monash University, and AgriBio, to explore opportunity for greater cooperation between private sectors and people-to-people for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
 
             During the visit, Mr. Maris attended and delivered a special remark on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit at the Office of Honourary Consulate-General in Melbourne together with the Thai communities.  In addition, Mr. Maris also met and mingled with Thai businesses and “Friends of Thailand” during the dinners hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy.  Mr. Maris encouraged the group to build a network and help the Embassy promote Thailand in Australia.
