On 2nd June 2014, Mr.Kinley Dorji, the new Colombo Plan Secretary-General,  paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka. Both sides also exchanged views about ways to further enhance more cooperation between Thailand and the Colombo Plan.
 
Colombo Plan was established in 1950 to strengthen the economic and social development cooperation in the Asia-Pacific. Presently, the Colombo plan consists of 
27 members, including Thailand who has been a member since 1954. The Colombo Plan emphasizes on the training programmes on environment protection, anti-narcotics, public administration and SME development. Thailand has cooperated with Colombo Plan in implementing environment and anti-narcotic training courses, in which Thailand has expertise.
 
Mr. Dorji was Executive Director of Bhutan Narcotic Control Agency and Bhutan Youth Development Fund before he was elected to be the Colombo Plan Secretary-General in May 2014.
