On 30 November 2013 from 11.00-17.00 hrs., the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Guangzhou, participated in the “2nd Guangdong International Charity Sale”, organized by the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office at Baiyun Wanda Plaza in Guangzhou. The charity bazaar was aimed to raise fund for the Guangdong Youth Development Foundation. The donation will be put towards the education of the left-behind children of migrant workers in Guangdong.
Quality Thai products filled the 4 booths of the Consulate-General, attracting great attention from the local public. The products include a variety of “One Tambon One Product” handicrafts and consumer products by the Thai enterprises in Guangdong, namely Nguan Soon Co., Ltd., Loxley Intertrade (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., Thai Loyalty, Made by Thai Co.,Ltd. and Sawasdeeka Dessert Shop joining the Consulate in selling their products and donating profits for charity. The Thai Student Association of Guangdong also participated in the event. In the afternoon, the Thai Consulate-General also contributed to the central stage to make the event colourful with a northern-style traditional dance called Fon Rom, performed by a group of Thai students from Jinan University.
By the end of the event at 17.00 hrs, the Royal Thai Consulate-Generaltogether with the participated enterprises presented a total amount of 16,710 RMB (approximately 83,550 Baht) donation to the Foundation.
The Thai Consulate participated in the Charity Sale consecutively for the 2nd year. Last year, it contributed 13,080 RMB (approximately 64,500 Baht) donation to the Guangdong Disabled People Rehabilitation Center. The Consulate-General places great importance in contributing to the society where the Consulate is situated and has been involved in local social responsibility activities as a reflection of close and cordial relations between Thailand and Guangdong Province.
