On 28 November 2013, H.E. Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka hosted dinner for the players and coaches from Thailand’s female youth basketball national team. 

     The team participated in the 3rd FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women at Sugathdasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka on 23-30 November 2013.

This female youth basketball team from Thailand, which joined the competition for the first time in Level-2 group, impressed the audience with 6 straight winning records and made their way into Level-1 group. In the preliminary round, Thailand defeated all 5 fellow teams in the group: Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Jordan, Hong Kong and Indonesia and, consequently, became the leader of Level-2. 

     Also, in her final match in the competition, Thailand beat the Level-1 Malaysia. The victory automatically promoted Thailand to Level-1 in the next FIBA competition, which provided the team an opportunity to fight for the Asian championship title.

Throughout the competition, staffs from the Royal Thai Embassy and Thai people in Colombo supported the team at the venue.
