On 14-16 May 2023, Mrs. Pornpimol Kanchanalak, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the Munich Leaders Meeting held in Tokyo as the special envoy of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting, which was organized by the Munich Security Conference Foundation and the Government of Japan, witnessed the participation of more than 60 attendees, comprising of high-level officials and policymakers, international organizations, private sector and civil society leaders. The participants exchanged views and insights on today’s security challenges including major power competition in the region, the conflict in Ukraine, nuclear security, technology and cybersecurity.

During the meeting, the Advisor to the Minister, stressed the importance of international cooperation within the region and among prominent global players to effectively tackle the multifaceted challenges stemming from both major power competition and regional conflicts. She also underscored the urgent need to create a robust and resilient supply chain to facilitate sustainable economic recovery. In addition, she highlighted the pivotal role of ASEAN Centrality in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity within the region as well as to help paving the way for peaceful resolutions to the situation in Myanmar.
