On October 30-31, 2023, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), co-hosted a workshop on Development Cooperation: Strategic Planning and Programming at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai in Bangkok, Thailand. On this occasion, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Mrs. María del Pilar Garrido Gonzalo, Director, Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD), OECD, jointly opened this event. Thai officials from more than 35 Ministries and Thai agencies concerned were invited to participate in the workshop.

The objective of the workshop is to strengthen the standards of development cooperation through transferring knowledge and exchanging experiences on good practices in planning and implementing development cooperation activities, including data collection and reporting of Thailand’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) by Mr. Rolf Schwarz, Senior Advisor, and experts from the Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD), OECD. Topics included Strategic Planning and Programming at a Glance, Practical Tools in Strategic Planning & Programming, ODA and Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) as well as a brainstorming to Identify Priorities, Current Practices, and Their Future Evolution.

Guest speakers from key development partners who are also OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) member countries namely Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, Global Affairs Canada and Australian Embassy to Thailand, including United States Agency for International Development Regional Development Mission for Asia (USAID/RDMA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) also joined the workshop. They shared their experiences in development cooperation planning and programming in both domestic and international context, as well as exchange views on topics of interest raised by the workshop participants from various Thai agencies.
