On 13 March 2025, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Thai Ambassador to the ROK, met with Lieutenant General Park Ki-wan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the ROK Air Force to follow up on the ROK Government’s provision of assistance and remedy for the Thai national injured during last week’s accidental dropping of munitions by ROK fighter jets during a live-fire exercise in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province. Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Minister/DCM, and Group Captain Pongchat Phansri, Air Attache, also attended in the meeting.
Ambassador Tanee was briefed on the causes of the incident and Lieutenant General Park assured the Ambassador that there will be strict measures to prevent such an incident in the future.
Ambassador Tanee also discussed the longstanding defence cooperation between Thailand and the ROK, including on developing both sides’ defence industries, this year’s Cobra Gold joint exercises hosted by Thailand, and high-level engagements between the Thai and ROK Air Forces.
