Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs meets with the Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand

On 13 August 2025, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a meeting with H.E. Mr. David Daly, Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand, on the occasion of the latter’s completion of duty.

The Permanent Secretary expressed appreciation to the EU Ambassador for his efforts and dedication in strengthening the relationship between Thailand and the EU, particularly the resumption of the Thailand - EU Free Trade Area (FTA) negotiations and the entering into force of the Thailand - EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA), establishing the Thailand - EU Joint Committee as a regular consultation platform to enhance closer partnership, as well as his active role in advancing people-to-people ties making the EU tourists ranked as the 3rd largest source of foreign tourists to Thailand.

The Permanent Secretary also clarified the situation along the Thai - Cambodia border and Thailand’s commitment to fully upholding the ceasefire agreement and to peacefully resolving differences with Cambodia in good faith and in the spirit of good neighbourliness. The EU Ambassador offered his condolences for the loss of Thai civilians and military personnel, as well as support for ceasefire agreement and Thailand’s peaceful solution to the situation.

In addition, both sides also discussed further cooperation in several areas of mutual interest such as security, human rights, green transition, sustainable development, and sustainable fisheries.
