On 11 June 2024, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Thailand, who paid a courtesy call on the Permanent Secretary to congratulate upon her assumption of duty.

Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to work closely together to elevate Thailand-India relations to a Strategic Partnership, given the strategic importance of the two countries. They also discussed various issues of cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, particularly on the security front, as well as Thailand’s application to become a member of BRICS, and pending agreements, in preparation for the upcoming Prime Minister’s visit to India. In addition, the Permanent Secretary congratulated Ambassador Singh on the success of the recent general election in India.

On this occasion, both sides emphasised that Thailand and India together can play a constructive role in addressing global common challenges, such as food and energy security, to ensure regional stability and prosperity. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues with both have shared interests in the changing geopolitical landscape.
