On 13 June 2024, Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Thailand, during a courtesy call. The Minister of Foreign Affairs extended his congratulations on the successful general election in India and reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to working closely with India to enhance bilateral cooperation in all dimensions.

To maintain the positive momentum of Thai-India relations, both sides agreed to promote the exchange of high-level visits, particularly the Prime Minister’s visit to India, and to prepare for the elevation of Thailand-India relations to a Strategic Partnership. This elevation will increase engagement and collaboration between the two countries for the mutual benefits of both countries and peoples in the near future.

On this occasion, both sides also discussed the joint efforts of Thailand and India in driving forward cooperation of regional groupings, particularly BIMSTEC of which Thailand will be hosting the Summit in September this year and Thailand’s membership application to BRICS.
