On 20 December 2023, Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, warmly received H.E. Mr. Irfan Shakir oglu Davudov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Thailand with residence in Kuala Lumpur.

On this occasion, both sides discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest particularly in trade and investment, clean energy and tourism. Both sides highlighted the importance of enhancing engagement through the establishment of a Political Consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries and the ongoing negotiations on the draft agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic or official passport holders to further enhance Thailand-Azerbaijan engagement.

They also exchanged views on regional development, such as the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and Ukraine.
