On 14 December 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-hosted the International Human Rights Day 2023 event under the theme “75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) - Dignity, Freedom and Justice for all”, presided over by the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand. Over 200 participants from all sectors, including representatives from the diplomatic corps, international organizations, civil society, the academia, and media attended the event.
On this occasion, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, delivered remarks highlighting the commitment of Thailand to advance human rights in line with the Prime Minister’s keynote remarks at the opening ceremony of the Leaders’ Segment of the commemoration of 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on 12 December 2023 and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs’ announcement of Thailand’s human rights pledges. DG also highlighted recent human rights development in Thailand and outlined priorities that Thailand wishes to push forward in its campaign for the Human Rights Council (HRC) for the term 2025-2027.
The International Human Rights Day event was led by the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand and co-hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Interior, Thailand Institute of Justice, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
