On 9 April 2024, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, discussed with Mr. Gilles Michaud, UN Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security, on the role of the UN Department of Safety and Security in managing risks and ensuring safety for UN personnel in the region, as well as Thailand’s initiative on humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.

On this occasion, the USG applauded Thailand on the aforementioned humanitarian initiative and expressed appreciation to Thailand, as the host country of UNESCAP and various UN regional offices, for the continued effective provision of the safety of UN personnel, premises and assets.
