On 6 December 2023, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, at the sidelines of the 8th Mekong - Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM MLC) in Beijing.

Both sides discussed ways to further promote bilateral ties, through exchanges of high-level visits, negotiation of the agreement on mutual visa exemption for ordinary passport holders and the construction of Thailand-China high-speed railway project to link with the China- Lao PDR high-speed railway and strengthen cooperation on combating transnational crimes as well as exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interests.

On this occasion, DPM/FM expressed appreciation to the Chinese Government for the assistance in the repatriations of Thai nationals from Laukkaing, Myanmar. DPM/FM proposed to revive the Consultation Mechanism between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, which his counterpart agreed. DPM/FM also invited China’s Foreign Minister to visit Thailand to attend the said talks at the earliest opportunity while H.E. Mr. Wang Yi also extended an invitation to DPM/FM to visit China at a mutually convenient date.
