On June 10, 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy, Stockholm, together with the Art Museum Riga Bourse organised a reception to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Thai-Latvian diplomatic relations at the Museum in old town Riga. Participants were ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in Latvia, high-level officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies in Latvia, and representatives of the Thai community in Latvia.
In their welcoming remarks, H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden and Latvia, H.E. Mr. Nils Jansons, Director General of Bilateral Relations Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Ms. Kristine Milere, Curator of the Art Museum Riga Bourse emphasised the close ties and cooperation between Thailand and Latvia at all levels.
The reception featured Thailand’s rich culture, namely Thai massage, Thai food and culinary art of fruit/vegetable carving by staff from the Ambassador’s Residence, and traditional Thai dance. Participants also received the information on traveling to Thailand from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Stockholm Office. They also enjoyed the Exhibition “From Life to Arts: The Reflections of Thai Communities through a Local Contemporary Artists and Textiles”, which is held from 22 April - 26 June, 2022.
On June 11, 2022, special activities such as a Thailand travel booth, Thai massage and Thai fruit/vegetable carving were open to the general public. The event was well attended by many Latvians, tourists and Thai people in Latvia.
