On 23 October 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, presided over the wreath laying ceremony and the Buddhist merit making ceremony to pay tribute to King Chulalongkorn on his Memorial Day at Wat Thai Norway. The Buddhist ceremony was conducted by Phra Vimolsasanavides, the Abbot of Wat Thai Norway and the President of the Union of Thai Sanghas in Europe (UTSE), and members of the sangha. The Ceremony was well attended by about 30 participants, including Embassy’s officials and staffs as well as Thai community in Norway.

His Majesty King Chulalongkorn was the first Asian Monarch to pay a Royal Visit to Norway in 1907, two years after the Norwegian Independence. His Majesty’s historic visit to Norway provided a solid foundation for the cordial and close relationship between Thailand and Norway, up to the present day, especially people-to-people relations.
