During 28-29 August 2022, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, met with a Thai delegation comprises of representatives from Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP). The delegation paid a visit to Norway during 27 August – 1 September 2022 to promote cooperation between Thailand and Norway in the energy sector. Ambassador Ruksakiati exchanged information and views on the energy sector of Norway and technology related to energy. Both sides also discussed ways to promote cooperation between Thailand and Norway in the energy sector and in the field of sustainable development.

At Stavanger, the delegation participated in the Offshore Northern Sea (ONS) exhibition, held biannually since 1974, a platform for representatives from energy, oil, and gas from all over the world to meet, build network, and exchange views and experiences. The delegation also visited the Northern Lights JV DV in Bergen to study about Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology, which can capture more than 90 percent of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. CCS technology is an important tool to reduce greenhouse gas emission in accordance with Norway’s climate change goals of reducing greenhouse gas emission 50-55 percent by 2030 and becoming a low-emission society by 2050. Norway’s goals are consistent with Thailand’s pledge to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 and to achieve net zero emissions by 2065.
Thailand looks forward to further promote cooperation with Norway on clean energy and sustainable development through Norwegian’s advancement on innovation and technology.
