On 4 June 2022, Ms. Potchamas Saengthien, Counsellor, and Embassy’s officials attended Stoppested Verden, International Cultural Festival for Children and Youth, held every year in Hamar. The Festival is aimed to use art as a tool to promote unity among multicultural communities by creating venue for artists and performers to present their works.

On this occasion, Counsellor Potchamas, as the Embassy’s representative, presented the book “Hundred Years Between”, collection of photos taken by Than Phu Ying Sirikittiya Jensen during her visit to Norway to retrace King Chulalongkorn’s visit to Norway in 1907, as well as Thai bedtime stories and alphabet writing practice books for children to the representatives of the Thai Association in Hedmark.

Stoppested Verden was held from 4 to 5 June 2022 at the Festival ground next to the Norwegian Railway Museum in Hamar. The Thai Association in Hedmark showcased Thai culture and food tents at the event including Thai cultural performance and fruits and vegetables carving. Apart from Thailand, other countries also took part in the event including Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Iraq, Israel, the United States, France, Spain, Latvia, Haiti, Chile and Benin. There were thousands of visitors participating in these two days event.

Stoppested Verden is very popular among the residents of Hamar and nearby cities. At its peak, over 11,000 visitors participated in the event. However, during the past two years, the event could not be held due to the COVID-19 situation. For more information, please check out the Festival’s website: https://www.stoppestedverden.no/.
