On 31 January 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, held a meeting with representatives from the Thai Women’s Association in Norway and Thai community in Norway, led by Mrs. Shantana Srivipa Berg, President of Thai Women’s Association in Norway, to discuss how to address situation of Thai massage in Norway in a comprehensive manner. The Association presented a project under the Thai Women’s Association in Norway, aiming to empower and elevate the standard of Thai massage in Norway, including training courses on related Norwegian rules and regulations in areas such as health, security, workplace environment, labour law, employment contract, business registration, tax declaration, accounting, financing, and marketing.

 

The Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo fully supports the efforts being made by the Thai Women’s Association in Norway and Thai community in Norway in initiating a mechanism to upgrade the standard of Thai massage in Norway, which is a respectable profession with many health benefits for both Thais and Norwegians alike.

 

The Embassy wishes to urge the Norwegian authorities concerned and interested parties to join us in this process and endeavor which will contribute positively to the Norwegian society as well.
