On January 12, 2024, Her Excellency Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, along with Embassy’s officials, hosted a meeting with representatives from the Committees of the Thai temples in Oslo and nearby cities to discuss the committees' work plan.

The committees from seven temples included Wat Thai Norway, Skiptvet Buddhist Monastery (Lokuttara Vihara), Wat Bodhibhumivana in Lillehammer, Wat Pah Bodhi-Dhamm Drammen, Thai Temple Simple Jarren, Wat Sanpong Norway, and Wat Phra Dhammakaya Norway. Currently, there are 23 Buddhist temples in Norway which are important spiritual refuge for the Thai community in Norway of around 30,000 people, many of whom have strong faith in Buddhism.

In her remarks, Ambassador Vimolbajra expressed her appreciation to the committee representatives of the Thai temples for their hard work and dedication to support Buddhism in Norway which corresponded with the Embassy’s efforts on Dhamma Diplomacy. She also further explained about the concept of Dhamma Diplomacy and how it is vital in applying to the diplomat's role and duty to promote peace, compassion, and spiritual connection among humanity regardless of their differences. Ambassador Vimolbajra also exchanged views and recounted several situations about the Consular work of the Embassy in providing protection for Thai nationals in Norway. The Embassy is grateful for receiving full support from the Thai community and Buddhist temples in Norway to achieve this purpose.

This was the first event that committee members from various Buddhist temples in Norway came together for a meeting at the Embassy. It is hoped that this will be a good basis for them to form a networking and partnership for various Buddhist temples in Norway to help each other to further promote Buddhism in Norway. In this regard, the Embassy remains committed to support their efforts in every way possible.

As a token of appreciation for the outstanding voluntary work, Ambassador Vimolbajra presented the book "A Compilation of News Reports in Norwegian Press with Translations and Documents Related to the Royal Visit by Their Majesties The King and Queen of Thailand to Norway, 19-21 September 1960" to the committee members of the Buddhist temples.
