Ambassador of Thailand to Spain Presided over the Official Opening of the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Barcelona

On 24 January 2024, H.E. Mr. Vosita Vorasaph, Ambassador of Thailand to Spain, presided over the official opening of the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Barcelona (located at C/ Almogavers, 174, 08018, Barcelona) and attended the reception to introduce Mr. Manuel Matachana Aramburu, Honorary Consul of Thailand in Barcelona. The invited guests included representatives of the consular corps in Barcelona, representatives of the Municipality of Barcelona, a representative of Casa Asia, and representatives of the Thai community in Barcelona.
 
Mr. Manuel Matachana Aramburu was appointed by the Royal Thai Government as Honorary Consul of Thailand in Barcelona on 6 October 2023, succeeding Mr. Jaime Sabaté Herce, the previous Honorary Consul General who held the position between 1982-2010.
 
The opening of the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Barcelona will play an important role in providing services and protecting the interests of Thailand and the Thai community in Barcelona and Catalonia (the consular district of the Honorary Consulate-General) that has more than 500 Thai residents, and is also an area where Thai tourists regularly visit each year. It will also help support the missions of the Royal Thai Embassy in Madrid in terms of promoting and expanding cooperation between Thailand and Catalonia in various dimensions such as economy, trade, investment, tourism, science, technology, and culture.
