On 5 July 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima and the National Agrarian University La Molina (UNALM) in Peru, co-organized a Hybrid Seminar entitled “Thailand and Peru : Partners in Shaping the Future of Food under the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model” to promote trade, investment and cooperation opportunities in the development of the future food industry and agricultural products with high potential between Thailand and Peru. Peru is an ideal partner for the implementation of Thailand’s BCG Economic Model and the development of S-Curve target industries.

On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Pisanu Sobhon, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to Peru, His Excellency Mr. Javier Prado, Director of Asia and Oceanía and Dr. Américo Guevara Pérez, Rector of UNALM, gave opening remarks for the seminar and panelists from the public, private and academic sectors from both sides gave presentations on opportunities to promote cooperation for the development of agroindustry and sustainable future food, such as through the Food Innopolis in Thailand to drive innovation and support research and development in the agroindustry, especially for biotechnology, Peru's Superfoods industry and ways to take advantage of the great biodiversity of Thailand and Peru along with protecting the environment and promoting sustainability.

The seminar received great interest from 60 participants and 1,000 participants through Zoom and Facebook Live, from the public, private and academic sectors of Thailand and Peru. Participants at the university were able to taste and enjoy a Thai coconut pudding dessert with taro and kiwicha, a blend of Thai cuisine with Peruvian ingredients.

The seminar was successful in increasing business opportunities in Peru for the Thai private sector in the agricultural and future food industry, the exchange of knowledge and best practices in creating value added future food products that are sustainable, creative and diverse with science, technology and innovation, as well as providing a valuable networking opportunity for Thai agencies and entrepreneurs, including startups, to meet with their Peruvian counterparts.
