On 19 December 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Vikram Misri, Foreign Secretary of India, during the Informal Consultations between Myanmar and neighbouring countries in Bangkok.

Both sides discussed the elevation of Thailand-India relations to a Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties at all levels and to fostering comprehensive cooperation. Key priorities included promoting high-level exchange of visits and enhancing collaboration in the defence industry.

In addition, they exchanged views on current regional issues of mutual interest and cooperation within the BIMSTEC framework, the Summit of which Thailand will be hosting in April 2025.
