In Beijing, Thailand re-affirms readiness to host Phuket Expo 2028

On 18 April 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy, Beijing,and Thailand’s Candidature Committee organised the Expo 2028 Phuket Symposia in Beijing to re-affirm Thailand’s readiness to host the Phuket Expo in 2028. Details of the Expo and key benefits of the Expo across regions were also highlighted at the event.

Thailand attaches importance to the long and close bilateral relations with the People’s Republic of China, and 21 diplomatic missions accredited to Thailand are based in Beijing.

The Symposia is part of a series of activities in Thailand’s Phuket Expo 2028 campaign and received positive feedback from participants. Panelists shared information on the sustainability concept of the Phuket Expo, and how the Expo can contribute to our shared vision of a sustainable and equitable future through local and regional development. Participants also expressed interest in the proposed assistance package and development programs to support the participation of developing countries at the Phuket Expo to ensure inclusive participation and build on long-term partnerships prior and beyond the Expo.

Panelists included H.E. Mr. Arthayuth Srisamuth, Ambassador of Thailand to the People’s Republic of China; Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand; Mr. Narong Woonciew, Governor of Phuket; Mr. Puripan Bunnag, Vice President of TCEB; and Mr. Sassitt Thavornvongwongse, Vice President of MICE of Phuket Tourist Association.
