On 5 April 2023, Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert, Advisor to the Office of Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health, won WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia’s 2023 Award for Heroes of Public Health. Received on behalf of the laureate by H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, the Award recognized Dr. Wibulpolprasert’s exceptional contribution towards the establishment of strong and futuristic public health systems in Thailand.

WHO SEARO confers this annual Award to outstanding individuals who contribute to the advancement and betterment of health and well-being in the region. Along with Dr. Wibulpolprasert, Dr. Virna Maria Gusmao dos. Reis Martins of Timor-Leste and Dr. G. Nageswara Rao of India also received the award this year.

This Award underscores Thailand’s globally recognized prominent and constructive role in the global health arena and commitment to working with WHO and relevant partners to advance health and well-being for all.
