On 1 April 2025, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Ms. Angela Jane Macdonald, Ambassador of Australia to Thailand.

Both sides discussed the close and constructive bilateral relations between Thailand and Australia, including tangible ways to drive forward the multi-faceted cooperation the two countries share as Strategic Partners. These included the development of a new Joint Plan of Action to Implement the Thailand-Australia Strategic Partnership (2026-2029),cooperation on security and countering transnational crimes, as well as cooperation in economic area.

In addition, both sides exchanged views on the impact and international rescue and humanitarian efforts in response to the earthquake in Myanmar, which affected the neighboring countries, including Thailand, on 28 March 2025. They also shared views on significant developments in the region, with a focus on the geopolitical landscape and the ongoing situation in Myanmar.
